The vast lands were separated into five large regions, which were north, south, east, and west, and middle state. As the name implies, middle state was situated in the middle of the vast lands and was where martial arts were the most prosperous; then came the four large regions: north, south, east, and west. Out of the four regions, north region's martial arts level was the weakest; a Spiritual Infant Realm warrior could rule the roost unlike the other three regions, where at least a Heaven Realm cultivator kept watch.[1] Even though the world had four regions and one prefecture, it was not easy to come and go from one to another. Each had a moat that separated them from the other areas, and it was rumored that this was left behind from a great battle in ancient times. The higher one's ability, the more difficult it would be to cross this gulf.[2]
Apart from the five regions, Lower Realm also has a very wide sea and is divided into five sea regions, namely the Northern Sea, Southern Sea, Eastern Sea, Western Sea and Central Sea. The five sea regions are inhabited by a race called the Sea Race, led by the Sea Emperor who lives in the Central Sea.
Background[]
Lower Realm was still a part of the Immortal Realm until three to four million years ago. Thus, nobody knew that this small world that is controlled by a such small and weak power as the five sects was actually the former Immortal land that the ultimate elites expended such extensive resources to search for.
Region Barrier[]
The Region Barrier was a transparent barrier so high its top was hidden in clouds. Everyone guessed that this barrier had been created by an array, but no one had ever found any formation’s eyes. Thus, this was a mere guess. The Region Barrier separated the middle state and the other four great regions, as if separating the landmass into five boxes. It also allowed for the fact that the martial arts level in every region was completely different. The Region Barrier did not have the slightest effect on the common people, but the stronger one’s power, the more one would be affected. If a Spiritual Infant Tier cultivator passed through, not only would his cultivation level experience a temporary drop, his life source itself would be considerably decreased. Thus, if one wanted to traverse the world, it was best to do so as early as possible. The best cultivation level was the Flower Blossom Tier; not only did one not have to fear being harmed by the Region Barrier, one’s ability would also be strong enough for self-defense. The Region Barrier stretched up into the skies as if there was no end to it.[3]
